PC/DC is a nonsurgical cosmetic injectable treatment that removes stubborn fat pockets under the chin, also known as a “double chin.” For women and men who are bothered by fullness beneath the chin, PC/DC can be a a nonsurgical option to restore a more youthful, firmer profile to the chin.
What is fat-dissolving injections?
Fat-dissolving injections are composed of PCDC (phosphatidylcholine deoxycholate). DC breaks down fat, and PC aids in fat breakdown and allows the fat through the liver and kidneys. PCDC can be used to reduce stubborn pockets of fat in the face, neck, and body. Common treated areas include jowls, double chin, bra fat, abdomen/love handles, back fat, and the inner and outer thighs (saddlebags).

What is the difference between PC/DC and Kybella?
PCDC was first used 60+ years ago to treat fatty blockages in blood vessels, high cholesterol, and fatty liver disease. Eventually, PCDC also began to be used for aesthetic purposes, such as reducing stubborn fatty pockets of the face, neck, and body. PCDC inspired the creation of Kybella. Allergan created Kybella, which only contains DC, but still works in the same way as PCDC. Allergan pursued FDA approval for Kybella for the reduction of submental (double chin) fat. However, like PCDC, it is used to treat many different areas. In our experience, PCDC has fewer adverse reactions, such as swelling, tenderness/soreness, and bruising, than Kybella.
Am I a candidate and what can I expect?
Anyone with stubborn fat pockets in the face or body. Those with evenly distributed fat (such as a high BMI) are better suited for lifestyle changes or liposuction.
The area being treated will first be numbed with numbing cream, numbing injections, or both. Once you are adequately numbed, the PCDC will be evenly distributed into the subcutaneous tissue via a needle. Some treatment areas will require Multiple injections. The area is massaged after treatment to ensure even distribution of the PCDC. Depending on area procedure typically takes 30-60 minutes.
What is the downtime and aftercare?
At Mathis Salon & Spa, we define downtime as being unable to work or go out in public. Downtime is unique to every patient and every treatment. Typically fat dissolving treatment has 24-72 hours of downtime. Redness, swelling, tenderness/soreness, and bruising can occur. Redness will typically resolve in 24-72 hours. Swelling, tenderness, soreness, and bruising usually go away within 1-2 weeks. Can use Arnica gel or capsules to treat swelling and bruising.
Avoid smoking, exercise, UV light, and heat (saunas, steam, tanning beds, hot showers, etc.) 24 hours after treatment. Avoid alcohol and other substances that affect liver and kidney function for 3-5 days after treatment. It is normal to feel firmness at the injection sites for 24 hours after treatment. If a lump is present, massage it gently 2-3 times per day for up to 72 hours after treatment. If the face or neck were treated, sleep with the head slightly elevated as long as swelling persists. You should also wear compression garments for several hours per day until swelling resolves.
How soon will I see results?
Depending on treatment area, results can typically be seen 4-6 weeks after treatment!
How many treatments will I need?
Depending on treatment area, 1-6 treatments may be needed.

How long does it last?
The fat cells in the treated area are permanently destroyed! Yes, you read that right!!
Results will be permanent as long as you maintain your weight. Hormonal changes such as pregnancy may affect results.
